2019 Night of Champions’ Outstanding Teacher and Teaching Assistant!

Nicotra Early College has had an incredible first year in operations –and it’s only just the beginning! We are happy to announce that the 2019 Night of Champions’ Outstanding Teacher and Teacher Assistant of the Year is Elizabeth Roman and Samantha Perrone.

Elizabeth Roman – Outstanding Teacher of the Year!

Elizabeth Roman, Outstanding Teacher of the Year

Elizabeth Roman is a dedicated educator whose passion is literature, public speaking, and student leadership inside and out of the classroom. She received a B.A. in English from SUNY Cortland and an M.S.Ed in Education from CSI. She joined ICS in 2011 as a Teacher’s Assistant at Lavelle Preparatory Charter School.  Mrs. Roman has been teaching English since 2011.  In 2018, she joined the founding team at Nicotra Early Charter College School.  She has become a teacher leader and is mentoring other teachers with one to one coaching and professional development, as well.  Mrs. Roman believes that instruction must be designed to meet the needs of all students in order to ensure student success.

Samantha Perrone – Outstanding Teacher Assistant of the Year

Samantha Perrone, Outstanding TA of the Year

Samantha Perrone is a first-year Teacher Assistant at the Nicotra Early College Charter School.  She has a B.A. from the College of Staten Island (2016) and is currently pursuing an M.S. Special Education at Touro College.  Prior to her work with Integration Charter Schools, Samantha worked in the medical field for nine years as a Medical Assistant and Office Manager.  In addition, to her position as a Teacher Assistant this year, she is also the scheduling coordinator for students and staff at Nicotra.  Samantha is currently co-teaching and planning with the Math team.  She is passionate about helping students reach their goals and seeing their academic and personal growth.  Samantha is excited to continue growing within this organization and for her future as an educator.
