Our Reopening Plan – Updated March 6th

Dear Nicotra Knights Families,

We hope this message finds you safe and healthy.

As stated in our last message, we explained we were planning for reopening for in-person instruction on, or after, March 8th.

At this time, Integration Charter Schools has made the decision to prioritize bringing our youngest learners in our elementary and middle grades back for in-person instruction first. Therefore, Nicotra students will be remaining on remote learning until further notice.  We will be conducting a family survey in the coming weeks to begin working on a plan to bring Nicotra students back for in-person instruction as soon as possible.

Our teams are hard at work assessing student achievement so that we ensure all students meet state standards by the end of June.  Teachers are working in teams to align, revise, and adapt our curricula to meet student needs.  Your scholar can help in this process by identifying their learning goals and, with their peers and teachers, assess where they are in relation to the standards.

Summer is right around the corner and we are hard at work planning robust opportunities for all students to prepare for the new school year and for students who are struggling to meet standards to take courses to recover credits.  For students that are on track towards graduation, we are also offering an immersion course in Spanish Level I and possibly electives that will help accelerate their learning.

In these trying times, please remember that we are all in this together and we are here for you!

Sincerely,

Joseph F. Zaza
