Dear ICS Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to inform you about a matter that could potentially affect our school community in the coming days. There is a potential bus strike that may impact the transportation services our students rely on.
We understand that many of our families depend on bus service to transport their children to and from school. The bus drivers and transportation staff play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our students during their daily commute.
While we do not have control over labor negotiations between the bus company and its employees, we want to assure you that we are closely monitoring the situation and taking steps to minimize any disruption to our school schedule and your child’s education.
Alternative Transportation in the Event of a Strike: All families impacted by the strike will have the option of an emergency MetroCard for both the student and a caregiver. In addition, NYC Public Schools will provide pre-paid rideshare and offer reimbursement to Students with Disabilities who have transportation recommended on an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Accommodation Plan (504); Students in Temporary Housing or Foster Care who receive yellow bus service; and Students with an approved
transportation exception, as defined on our as defined on our exceptions to
transportation eligibility web page (schools.nyc.gov/transportationexceptions).
We understand the concern and inconvenience that a potential bus strike may cause for our families, and we empathize with your situation. We are committed to working closely with all stakeholders to find solutions that prioritize the educational needs and safety of our students.
