Meet the Assistant Principal!

Jessica Carnavas

How long have you been with ICS?

This is my 7th year with ICS. I began my career here as a 7th-grade science teacher and then moved to 8th-grade science, assistant team leader, science coach liaison, coverages coordinator and then 8th Grade Team Leader for the past three years. Now, I am proud to serve as Assistant Principal of Nicotra.

Where did you go to school?

I received my bachelor’s from Rowan University in Public Relations and Vocal Performance. Then, from Wagner College, I received an MA in  General and Special Education. From there, I received my MA in Biology from  Clemson University and finally my School and Building Leadership certificate from The College of Staten Island.

Tell us about yourself!

I was born in Staten Island, but moved to New Egypt, NJ where I grew up. After college, I moved back here to Staten Island. I have been married to my husband Pete for 3.5 years, have an 80lb. Goldendoodle named Murphy, and a one-year-old son named John.

I most enjoy music, crafting, and spending time with my family

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job at ICS is having the ability to give students opportunities they may not have had the chance to have if they were not in an ICS school
